We breed on a limited basis and only when we plan to keep a puppy for ourselves. Each litter is carefully planned to assure the likelihood that each puppy inherits the desired characteristics of both parents, and that the breed is improved upon. Much research precedes each decision to breed. We choose the sire and dam based on structure, movement, temperament, and overall health. This applies not only to the potential parents, but also to the lineage several generations back on each side. Within a litter there will be puppies that are suited to show/performance/competition homes, and others that are perfect for companion homes. Each puppy is evaluated multiple times during the eight weeks it is with us. Following each evaluation we have a more complete snapshot of the puppy's personality and potential. Within these eight weeks we not only will be looking for temperament, but also the structure and movement essential for the breed ring and agility, and the drive and instinct necessary for success in herding competition.
